Classes and Events

Outdoor Adventures
Let’s get together and play!! Discover what nature has to offer in all her seasons. Let your imagination and exploration create your playground.  We will be in the wilderness for 60 minutes. This time will be to socialize, learn about your bodies, improve sensory skills and learning, all while getting fresh air!  Dress appropriately for the weather.     
Story with Crafts
Meet with us to interact with stories and create a few crafts relative to the topic.  When registering please mention age so the stories and crafts can be age appropriate.   
Mindfulness
Many mindful activities for children, adults and groups can help you to be present and relieve stress.  Some activities include meditation, walking, driving, breathing, eating, gardening, games, blowing bubbles, cards, music, movement, dance, puzzles, yoga, laughter, art.  We can guide you on how to incorporate these activities into your routine.  
Mechanics
Would you like to learn how to change a flat tire?  How about complete an oil change on your vehicle?  We will be offering basic mechanic skills classes.  If you would like to use your vehicle, let us know.  If you would like a skill not listed, please ask us
Gardening
Are you interested in growing your own food or herbs or flowers?  Would you like to work on the plan of what to plant near each other or what should be rotated?  Interested in raised bed gardening or in ground gardening?  February is a great time to start thinking about what plants and seeds you will want.  In Central Minnesota, March is a good time to start seeds as May is a good time to plant.  We can help throughout the whole gardening season.
Sap Collection
One wonderful resource within our reach is syrup!  This will be hands-on and interactive, in the woods!  Learn how to identify the maple and birch trees on your property.  Learn how to tap the trees to collect the sap, how to store the sap, how to boil the sap to make syrup and then how to bottle it.  We will have all materials available.  The sap season in Central Minnesota is when the nights are below freezing and days are above 40, usually March.  This is a 4-6 week process.  Dress for the weather and being outside in the woods.

Art
Creating!  Painting, sculpting, drawing, coloring, sewing, building, Art can happen in many forms.  Spend time surrounded by Tibbets Wilderness nature and let your creative juices flow. 
Tutoring
Would you like some extra time working on your educational classes in an one on one setting or even in a small group?  We have teachers and experts available by appointment to lead you to success in any subject at any level.  
Cooking
Do you enjoy cooking?  Would you like to cook food using some of our locally grown ingredients?  Maybe practice measurements and recipe following.  Cooking classes for all ages and skills available.  Take home something delicious cooked by you!
Herbs
Have you grown your own herbs before?  There are so many uses for herbs and they are easy to preserve for use during non growing seasons.  Learn the what, when and how of (indoor/outdoor) planting, harvesting and preserving herbs.  
Healing
Are you balanced?  Do you feel stuck?  Do you desire some self healing from the inside out?  We offer healing through energy work.  Healing through being in nature.  Healing through connecting with each other.  
Sewing
Are there buttons lying around, maybe a hem that needs to be sewn or even a patch on those pants or coat?  Learn some basic sewing by hand to keep the household held together.  Sewing projects as requested.
Food Preservation
Do you remember Grandma’s pickles, salsa, applesauce, tomato sauce??  Learn how to make your own food to store in the pantry for those wintery months.  Take home all that you preserve.  Have you grown something that you would like to preserve but aren’t sure how, let us know, we can help!
Wood Cutting
Do you have wood near or around you?  Would you like to cut some for fires?  Learn how to cut and split wood with chainsaws and mauls so you can have manageable pieces of wood to work with. 
Farming
Would you like to know more about farming?  Participate in making hay bales or another crop?  Do you need advice on what equipment is needed to start farming your land?  Let us know what you would like to learn and our expert farmers will work with you.
Retreats
Looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily routine?  Looking to reconnect with Mother Earth?  Looking at connecting with others from the community?  A retreat is what you might be looking for then.  From just a few hours to a few days, we have much to offer.
Welding
Did you know there are many kinds of welding?  Different ways and reasons for welding?  Whether it is for putting something together, fixing something or creating art sculptures there is a trick to each one.  Interested in learning about it and practicing the skill of welding? We have local experts ready to help you become a welder.
Camping
Do you appreciate time in nature?  We can help you learn the ins and outs of camping; what to bring, how to pitch a tent, start a fire, what food to bring and how to cook, where to put wet clothes, etc. This is offered hands-on overnight while camping with a tent or just for a few hours to practice the basics. 
Butchering
Are you raising your own animals or an avid hunter?  We have a few experts in the local area that are looking forward to teaching you how to butcher your own food.  Learn the tools you will need and the steps to take.  Hands on butchering during season.  Know what is exactly happening in the processing of your food.
Music
Is your instrument sitting in the corner?  Now is the time to reconnect with music and people!  We offer jam sessions where you can come and play with others.  Come explore different instruments and ways to make music instruments, even from regular household items.  We also offer music lessons by appointment.  Let us know your interest and need.
Blacksmithing
We would love to offer blacksmithing, the art of forging metal into objects…any local experts that can be suggested?
